I’m grateful I’ve reached this birthday
What a “long strange trip it’s been”
Who could have guessed how our lives would change
When COVID-19 stepped in
Now there’s light at the end of the tunnel
And my gift was a shot in the arm
With a wish and a prayer that more will be there
To keep us ALL from harm
Amidst distancing and masking
I miss the human touch
The hugs and kisses from my friends
And those I love so much
I’ve miss the trips and visits
And how it used to be
Things that really matter most
Mean so much more to me
I hope the frightful politics
And fighting all will cease
In the end this aging hippie
Still hopes and prays for peace!
So bring it on dear birthday
I’m glad for another year
For what really matters most in life...
Are those that we hold dear
