Below is my revised and updated "annual" poem to myself. This one is specifically directed to "my younger me"
-----------------
A message to my younger me.
Take heed of how it's going to be.
The years fly by as they often say.
You’ll be 72 years old someday.
A message to me at 22
Old people you see will someday be you
You'll get flabby and move at a slower pace
Even makeup won't cover the lines on your face
You'll have kids who will grow in the blink of an eye.
Off to adulthood they will fly.
Hold them tight for all to soon you'll see.
An empty nest where they used to be
The 40s and 50s will be the best
You'll start to enjoy that empty nest
You'll have more time to take care of you
And do the things you want to do
In your 60’s you’ll find those kids now are grown
And they have babies of their own
Life's greatest reward is about to start
As those grand-baby kisses will melt your heart
A message to my younger me
All this and more is yet to be
Savor each moment along the way
Hug those you love much tighter each day
Don't take for granted your vigor and youth
Because nothing's forever--and that's the truth
A message to me of long ago
The love in your heart will continue to grow
You'll cherish those that you hold dear
And miss the ones no longer here
A message to me turning 72
Slow down and take good care of you
You're younger right now then you’ll ever be
What happened before is a memory
You’re older and wiser then you were at the start...
Keep peace and love inside your heart✌️💜
