Advice to my younger me”

What would I tell my younger me of all the things that were to be?I’d say the cliches all are true
The years will pass and fly by you
I’d say that fleeting youth you know
Will see many loved ones, and go
I’d say don’t worry late at night - that everything will turn out right
I’d say “calm down” to my younger me
Don’t take it all so personally
I’d say have faith and persevere
I’d tell myself to have no fear
I’d say you’re stronger then you know
That many friends will come and go
But the ones that love you most will stay
And be beside you all the way
I’d also tell my younger me
To look in the mirror and like what you see
Your face and figure will change by and by
But you can’t stop the clock so don’t even try
I’d tell my younger me “be smart”
Follow your instincts-follow your heart
I’d say to me just do your best
Appreciate more and criticize less
Although my younger me is gone
She’s still inside me - holding on
She whispers “yeah, it would be nice
if you could follow your own advice.”
And she quotes a poet much wiser then me
“The best of life is yet to be”
