When We Were Young - So Long Ago
Generations just keep coming And much to my surprise
It’s me that is the matriarch
As they grow up before my eyes
I know it’s said life flies by fast
And I think, how can it be?
I look in the mirror and wonder…
Who’s looking back at me??
I see photos from 10 years ago
And I want to turn back time
It’s all going by too quickly
And I’m running out of rhyme
I find nostalgia is my friend
She’s there to ease the way
She pops in my mind quite frequently
Then quickly fades away
The realization and reality
Is new normal that’s becoming me
I accept it because what else can I do?
My peers are in the same boat too.
So let’s try to impart some wisdom
Lets appreciate each day
Let’s not “ sweat the small stuff”
That doesn’t matter any way
And lets remember the “old days”
Our kids will never know
How simple and sweet it used to be
When we were young ….. so long ago
