THANKSGIVING YESTERDAY
Written by Judi Kipner Wolf
late at night November 24th
In the strange and scary year of 2020
————————————-
We’d gather on Thanksgiving
so many decades ago
In a house on Kenova Avenue
I thought it would always be so
We’d watch parades and football games
Mom would cook all day
Daddy would fall asleep on the couch
It would always be that way
I can still smell the roasting turkey
I can taste the pumpkin pie
I can hear the noisy chaos
Of many years gone by
Life was simple and easy
our troubles all were few
My parents, my brothers, my heart and my home
The life that we all knew
I took it so for granted
I was young and couldn’t see
In the blink of an eye, the years would fly
And become just be a memory
The place and times are different
But I appreciate more each year
The loved ones that are with me
And I remember those not here
Now I count my blessings
watch the grandkids grow and play
And recall with sweet nostalgia.....
Thanksgiving yesterday
