This is the poem I wrote for Sara Rosenbaum for her baby shower. . It's in first person from "the baby".........
At first I was a tiny dot
That not a soul could see
Before you knew that I was there
I started to be me
I always was a part of you
Waiting for the day
When a spark of life would come along
And help me find my way
I am there with every breath you take
When you're asleep and when you're awake
When you're standing on your swollen feet
When you're craving something that you can't eat
I lean on your bladder and wake you at night
And read your journal whenever you write
I'm going to love jeeps and Metallica too
Can you feel as I'm rocking and rolling with you?
I'll be smart like my daddy - I'll have his cute smile
And probably his eyes--as you'll see in a while
Soon I'll be with you and then you will see
I'm made up of all those who came before me
Yet still I'm unique and created by you
Miracles really do come true
They may cut the cord but it still will be there
Binding us always - anytime anywhere
And I'll still be your baby - even when I'm full grown
Just ask any mother -- including your own
See ya soon
Love, baby
