Retirement from Whiteflash
January 12, 2018
In 2001 - near the end of the year.
She became unemployed which filled her with fear
She wasn’t a youngster at age 53
What would the path ahead of her be?
Some call it luck and others say fate
But a beacon of light was laying in wait
Opportunity knocked on her door that day
Bright like a diamond it showed her the way
Instinct was whispering ... this is for you
Time to let go and try something new
So the journey began for Whiteflash and me
Where it would lead I couldn’t yet see
With a handful of others determined and strong
I immediately knew this was where I belong
I was made to feel special and clearly that’s why
Appreciation is something that money can’t buy
I’ve seen Whiteflash flourish and I honestly say
I’ve enjoyed every step along the way
The comings and goings - The Whohoo and woe
Like coal under pressure a diamond did grow
To have witnessed it all and play a small part
Has truly been something that touches my heart
Through ups and downs through laughter and tears
Whiteflash has been there for 17 years
A great poet said “grow old with me, the best of life is yet to be”
I’m not so sure that’s really true but I know there’s much I need to do
Grand-babies to bounce upon my knee, places to go and things to see
After decades of working its time to relax
To embrace every moment and live life to the max
Whatever I do this much is clear
I’m a better person because I worked here
Somewhere inside me - both day and night
There will always be “a flash of white”
